Washing Russell HD T-Shirt

Hi,

I am experimenting with printing on a Russell HD T-Shirt 65% polyester / 35% cotton. I would like to know how many washes it would take for the cotton to release the ink so I can get a good idea of the long term print result? I have washed the T-Shirt 3 times now and after the first was I noticed a slight difference but with the other 2 nothing has changed.

Does anyone have any info on this?

It only takes 1 wash. Maybe 2. You can't count on the dye sticking to the cotton longer than it takes to wash it the first time. Once it washes out what you have left will stay that way forever (faded, vintage look).

edit: If you've ever spilled dye sublimation ink on a cotton shirt, or shop towel, you know you'll never get that ink out. :) It will fade tremendously, but it will never wash completely out. So you may always have traces of the dye in your cotton fibers but I would not use that as a hard-fast rule on print longevity.
