Help! My Roland GS-24 cutter has been working fine and now all of the sudden when I send it to cut, it makes the start up noise and then a tiny move like it is going to start moving and cutting and will cut a test, but does not cut when sending a file to it to cut. I have tried different files and have uninstalled the software and driver and it is still doing the same thing. It is as if it is going to start cutting, but just doesn't and does not move. I thought it might be the printer cord, but if it is sending it to cutter it maybe wouldn't do anything at all and I'm not getting any error messages??? Thank you!!!

This was the response from Roland. It worked form me.

"There is an issue with a Windows update that was issued overnight with our cutters that is causing the same things that you have described.
If you uninstall Windows update KB5039212 (Win 11) or the latest feature update on Win 10 the problem is resolved.

Going forward we will hopefully be in contact soon with a permanent solution."

I have been there. There are a couple of fixes.
I asked my supplier, this was years ago. Theh had a patch to fix it. It happened again and it was a firmware issue. Ive been using Roland for 20 years. With patience and a few calls the answers are readily available. Roland has a great tech support also.
It is a pain but once you learn it gets easier.
Also remember to restart, just saying...

Please help...
I have a Roland camm1 GS-24
Same thing. I tried reinstalling The Roland the Cut studio software, changed different cables and used different usb sockets on my PC. No luck.
I went in to the history of MS updates, didn't find KB5039211 (Win 10) update but found (Servicing Stack 10.....) bunch of numbers update on June 11, 2024. Right clicking but it won't extend a window for me with "uninstall" option. Tried hitting Delete button.... nothing.
Please help

If you uninstall the update you will get it again next time your machine checks for updates.
I phoned ROLAND UK and spoke to a very helpful lady who said this is a massive problem for them and sent me a work around. I've not tried it yet but will give it a go later. I would suggest you try that before messing about with updates that will keep coming back.

I have a GS-24. Right in the middle of cutting it stopped. I did delete the windows update but that didn't fix that. Thought it was a bigger problem so i purchased a GS2-24. It's not working either.
I have my windows update paused. i have removed and reinstalled the driver and i have used 3 different computers. all of which do not have that windows update.
i am at a loss.

Has the "work around" quit working for anyone else? It has been working fine and starting today I can't get it to work. I get the light on and the little buzz but it will not cut. I have removed the update a couple of times but today that is not working.
i uninstalled it still didnt work for me
Same here

pausing updates does not do much, windoze will install updates (just later)

unfortunately this is a good reminder to have a cheap dedicated laptop that has a fresh install of windoze
7 is best, but if not available to you, go back to an early 10, and when installing make sure no internet connection (this is possible with simple workarounds, like here or here)

then just never let it connect to the internet, or completely disable updates (like here)

like i said in another post, you can also try restoring your computer to a much earlier date (it does not affect personal files)

remember, all these issues are not a bug, they are a feature of windoze
