buying a computer with Windows 8.1. Will it operate Expert 24 via serial port? My usb port on the cutter is damaged. It cuts fine with Windows 7. 7 came pre installed on my laptop, so no disc. Does anyone have any thoughts on this statement? No, Hewlett-Packard does not allow downgrading to Windows 7 due to licensing rights.

Steve, I've got a laptop with 7 I'll use as a back up for the cutter. The computer I ordered is HP Pavilion 500-297c Desktop Computer, Intel Core i5-4440, 12GB Memory, 1TB Hard Drive - Sam's Club can't beat the price.
