Spot process will always separate into the 9 channels it is set up with. If you do not have a certain color you can just turn off that channel. Or if you have too many colors you can merge colors to reduce the number of screens.

 

All sep programs require a lot of tweaking-merging-adding-subtracting-multiplying, etc.
Sometimes they sep spot on, more often, they don't.

 

How's the separation quality of VueRite compared to Fastfilms? I'm using the latter but have difficulties with skin tones and highlighting small details. I'm seriously considering puchasing SPVR if this can help me solve my separation problems.

Another thing, can I open, view and edit the separated SPVR DCS2 file from Photoshop?

 

I think the flesh tones are good and yes you can view the seps in photoshop.

 

Thanks TJ. Is there a way to use Pantone colors to replace the standard 9 color separation from the pc? eg: Pantone 131C for GOLD, 2592C for PURPLE, and so on. Additionally, can we edit/make adjustments (not only view) on the DCS2 file from Photoshop?

 

Yes, I believe you can assign pantone channels. You can also load a list of ink colors from a manufacturer (international coatings, for example) and use those specific colors on the seps.

 

Does anyone know if/when Spot Process VueRite will have a demo for Mac OS X? Kinda disappointing the demo won't work on my mac. Wonder why they don't have a working demo for mac if they have a working purchasable version for mac?
