Sounds like a communication error between your cutter and the computer.

We have tried another cable from a HP printer & still no luck? Do you need some sort of special lead?

I wouldn't think so, should be USB, is your computer Windows based? if so I'd reboot and try again, or you may need to uninstall/reinstall the program you know how quirky windows is, if your on a Mac....sorry I can't help you.

No problem, your using Vista is this a new cutter that you bought, if so you may need to contact the distributor/manufacture to make sure you have the proper Vista drivers for the cutter, it's not uncommon for folks running Vista/Win7 to have to download updated drivers for their OS....just a thought.

Make sure,the cutter is checked off as the main printer ,in control panel,that might be the issue

 

Hello, im wondering if anyone can help me? i have a Graphtec Vinyl cutter, yesterday i cut out some signs and all worked fine, today went to print some off but it wont work, the cutter is on and i can press test on the machine and all works fine, but once i have designed by artwork on my laptop and press "cut" or even "test" on Artcut2009 nothing happens? Can anyone help?

So it sounds like it DID work for you, and then stopped working, correct?

Let us know what happened after you restarted your computer.

Also, did anything change on your computer before this began happening, like a windows update, or something?

 

Yes it did work & now it has stopped. nothing happened after i restarted & reinstalled the program. No updates or anything have taken place, its just stopped .

 

do you leave the usb plugged in to the computer or do you unplug the cutter when not in use and then plug back in when you want to cut....?

if you unplug and plug back in make sure you use the same usb port that you used when you installed the cutter.....also check to see what port the cutter is set to..sometime vista likes to change ports without telling you......should be usb com3 or com4...

Hi thanks for that, that was the problem with USB port, mine is plugged into com8, all fine & working now! Thank you for all you help eveyone!!
