use a messed up t-shirt print up a transfer cut it into quarters and experiment starting with cutting the pressing time. ones you get heat time and pressure right your're on your way.

 

Thanks for this method, I cut my transfer into 4 and adjusted my time/temp and pressure. Got my transfer image into the shirt right on the money with no problems. Also used the other method to wait 5-8 seconds and all is well. Thanks guys for the quick responses.

 

It's hard to know what the problem is as you didn't mention the paper the paper you're using and the instructions you're following. Different sellers have different instructions for the same paper.

For example, Red Grid will do exactly what you describe when you peel when super-hot, and especially if the fabric surface is a little textured. Nine out of ten instructions for Red Grid say to peel hot, but I've found it's better to wait 5-8 seconds, and sometimes longer for canvas. As Rogershirts points out, on any new paper you use you should do tests first. Don't waste shirts and paper trying to get someone else's instructions to work. Who knows where they get their info, and how old it is.

Sometimes it has to do with pressure. Most transfer papers need high pressure. I would try more pressure.
