I cut alot of intricate detailed images and have no problems unless...dull blade, not enough force, bad cutting strip......how does your test cut look? is there a slight mark in the backing sheet? hard for me to figure out your issue for you I'd say make some adjustments as it should be cutting fine detail without a problem. also, I use a 60 degree blade, does better on the fine detail than a 45

 

make sure your offset is correct for the blade you are using as well. usually it is 0.250 for a 45 degree blade

 

Here are some cutting tips I like to recommend:

- Make sure the cutting strip does not have any gashes. If it does, replace it immediately. If there are gashes, there is no stability under the material and the machine is using more force than needed and it can cause cutting issues (bumpy and jagged lines).

- Make sure the blade is not fully exposed from the blade holder. If there are no gashes in the cutting strip, you are able to cut materials with very little blade exposed (a credit cards width). It is better to increase the force if needed to cut through media than it is to expose more blade. This will prevent the blade from skipping and/or friction build-up causing a media jam.

- Make sure the blade is turning freely in the blade holder. Dirt or broken ball bearings in the blade holder will cause the blade not to turn freely causing is to drag vs. cut. We recommend a new blade holder every 2 to 5 years (depending on how frequently used).

- Feed out the material as much as you will use to cut the entire job to ensure straight alignment. Then feed the material back to where you would like to set the origin.

- We always recommend performing a test cut for best results.

 

I would agree, I found out using a 60 degree at 250 offset works great on most vinyl except the very think stuff.
