How much paint to mix

I am working with water based inks and struggle not to mix too much inks for an order as we are working with a lot of custom colours that can not necessarily be used again. The result is that we waste a lot. Does anybody know about some kind of paintmixing template or way to calculate how much, more or less, to mix. Anything that could help mix closer to the amount of ink necessary to complete the order. We work sometimes with up to 3000 tees and it would be helpful to not mix again and again (and struggle to replicate the colour) but still not waist by mixing to much inks. Any Help?

Hi Tim,

I am new here and trying to learn new tricks and techniques. Few days back i came across this video by silkscreeningsupplies the file name is "Screen printing water based ink mixing and color matching DVD part 5". You'd want to watch that. I think this would solve your ink wastage problem. He uses scales to measure the weight of the t-shirt not printed and then again weighs the shirt once it's printed - the difference would be equal to the amount of ink used per shirt that you could multiply by the number of shirts. I think this should give you a fairly good estimate. :)

I hope this helps and happy screening.
