I just received the HPN Signature 16x20 Swing Away heat press, having purchased it "new" from them through ebay. I haven't used it yet but am pretty dismayed by the transaction so far. I don't think the unit is new. It shows signs of use/abuse. There are spots where the paint is chipped away. The bottom platen is totally gouged up (which HPN says doesn't matter) and there are bumps, holes and lines in the upper platen so that the pressing surface isn't smooth. Again HPN says that the rough surface is perfectly normal. In spite of their good ebay reviews, I get the feeling that getting satisfaction from this transaction is going to be a difficult process. I wish that I had purchased a different machine, even if I had to pay more than I did for the HPN Signature 16 x 20 Swing away press.

 

HPN allowed me to return the problematic heat press and said that they will issue a full refund, including shipping both ways, with no restocking fees. But, they said that at that price point, I shouldn't expect smooth platens.
