Are all printers capable of inkjet heat transfer paper printing?

I've seen quite a lot of information on various printer makes and models, their good/bad points etc. but one thing that I haven't been able to figure out completely yet is that if every InkJet/Laser printer is capable of printing on transfer papers?

If not, then how can I know if a particular printer is capable of this type of printing?

I know some popular models like Epson WorkForce 1100 and how they are so great for transfer papers but I haven't been able to find any of these great printers locally in my region (Pakistan). The cost of shipping exceeds the actual price of printer which makes it really hard to get it imported from somewhere else.

So, I am thinking about selecting a printer from the list of available printers locally (There are several models available in local market for almost every make, just very limited variety in models). That is why I need the answer of this question.

Does it depend on the thickness of paper? Can the printer specifications alone answer this question? Would I need to contact the manufacturer directly for the answer?

I will be grateful to anyone who can help me with this.

Thanks.

Thanks for your input guys. Let me be more specific about my question: I need to know if I will be able to print transfer papers through ANY inkjet/laser printer? Or only special models can do this job? and If only special models can do it, how can I find out which model is capable of doing it and which one is not!

Once I sort this out, I will then move on to selection of printer model, selection of paper etc.

Thanks.

No, you would need to use a printer that uses pigment inks (for inkjet transfers). Other types of inks can run or not adhere as well to the fabric. Epson printers are usually used/recommended from past discussions.

In regards to laser transfers, I think there are some models that definitely work better than others. For example, from reading the posts here, I've seen that Okidata and Ricoh printers seem to be popular choices.

Thanks Rodney. So am I correct in assuming that ANY Epson model which supports pigment inks will have no problem with printing transfer papers? I was more concerned about the ability to print on transfer papers i.e. What if I purchase a printer only to find out that I can't print transfer papers with it. Sorry for repeating my question again and again, it is probably the most basic or perhaps a stupid question but thats the confusion in my mind which I want to resolve.

Thanks.
