I have never embroidered, but I'm looking for a machine that works well with computers, has a good software reputation. Specifically I want one that can outline hand drawings that I upload on my computer, also one that's good at lettering. Can spend about a grand or two. Any suggestions would be the bees knees. Thanks.

Yes I'm not doing embroidery but they had a big booth of them at the state fairs I checked them out and the prices are like everyone said. Before people have discussed getting used and I believe you need some background info so you can check out the machine and make sure it isn't messed up first.

They are talking about single head embroidery machines.
And unless you are going to get a home machine with only one needle and comes with some okay software (most don't), than you wont find anything for that price unless the stars align magically. Browse the forums a bit on "what machine to buy" and you'll find the same thing. Most retail/industrial embroidery single head machines cost between $5000 to $19,000 without the software. The software alone can run from $2000 up to $20,000+ the more powerful the software. Multi head machines are even more than all that.
