Hi Everyone,
I've printed more test samples than I'd like to admit in an attempt to please one of my larger customers and get the look they want. I've tried both waterbase and discharge, from 1 pull to 3, and print, flash print. I've also experimented with lowering the discharge additive % from 5 or 6 down to about 2% which makes the print have a splotchy appearance. The entire print needs to appear solid..but faded. If that makes sense. The artwork does have some built in grunge as well. Printing on Anvil 980's in the heather dark grey color.
I've tried white ink, which they prefer, and have also tried Cool Grey uncoated pms. I can't use halftones either. The only thing I haven't tried is watering down the ink, which may be the answer.
In their words they're seeking the vintage, faded, "looks like from the 80's and it's been washed 1000 times" look. I've attached a few photos showing a somewhat similar look.
I'm at my wits end trying to figure out how to do this and any help is greatly appreciated.
