Had a question about the humidity for my t-jet blazer express, i recently moved in to a shopping mall, and it is a opened spaced area, and i do live in kansas city and it is some what humid some days, and i was wondering if i should use a humidifier cause it is a open space will it even make a difference?

here is a pic of how i have my t-jet blazer set up...
please let me know, thank you

Proper humidity level (at least 40% to 50%) is a major factor in your printer running well. You may face some issues in a open space like this, especially during the cold months. Heating will dry out the air. leading to humidity levels as low as 5 to 10%. Placing a humidifier near your printer can help. As Mark pointed out, the first thing to do is to get a humidity gauge (available for as little as $10). It is the only way of really knowing what your actual humidity is.

I'll add my vote for proper humidity. It makes a HUGE difference in print quality and print head life. You are going to have challenges keeping high print quality if the humidity drops much below 50%.

We keep our print shop at 21C (70F) and 60% humidity 24 hrs/day. You can't do that in a shopping mall, so you might consider getting a humidifier that exhausts its air out the top (Sears has one) and park it directly under the printer so that the humid air blows up inside.

We also found that if the air temperature goes much above 26C (78F) print quality drops dramatically and the print head starts to clog, even at 60% humidity.

That brings up an interesting question ... how do you keep pretreatment spray mist from floating all around the shopping mall? The stuff is not toxic, but it can be a bit annoying and it leaves a sticky coating on everything it settles on.

If you pretreat inside the greenhouse enclosure, how do you keep the pretreatment mist from getting inside the printer? That can cause real problems if allowed to get on the print head.

Just curious.

ok, so can i do this...

get a tarp from home depot, cover the t-jet, buy a humidifier and place it under the tarp so the humidity can stay with the t-jet, and leave it like this during the nite and the day while i dont use the t-jet?!

i just asked if i am able to build another little room for my t-jet and they said no cause if the building codes and what not.

Please note. The greenhouse is for helping keep the printer in the proper humidity level. NOT for spraying pretreatment in. If you are spraying pretreatment by hand then it has to be in a separate area away from the printer, preferably in a separate room.
