Default How Does Zazzle Stack Up?

In light of the VB changes, there have been a good number of Zazzlers thinking about leaving Zazzle and going somewhere else.

It got me to thinking, what are the other PODs that let you sell? What are their characteristics and how does Zazzle stack up?

I just finished putting together a spreadsheet of the Top 17 PODs along with about 13 characteristics. Based on that summary I think Zazzle still comes out way on top in several categories.

The spreadsheet is available free to our Zazzle How-To eNewsletter subscribers.

Default Re: How Does Zazzle Stack Up?

If you talk about POD yes, perhaps Zazzle comes out on top. However, as a fulfillment service for new/small brands it does not. I wanted to launch my own store/brand there. I gave up:

1) Their prices are way too high (at least for my "niche"-printed tees). To give an example, a printed black tee gets about $27(DTG), the designer puts his 5-10% on top of that. This has to compete with brands out there selling (better quality) screen printed tees, with double the printed area for $24 or less, sometimes a lot less,.

2) For a brand, being on Zazzle means being next to literally thousands of people selling pictures of their cat on mugs and shirts. Not sure about others but would not want my brand associated with that.

3) No branding for sellers on the actual product/packaging.

POD when you want a poster, yes. Making a store to promote a brand... no, thank you.

ETA...This is just my personal view on the matter.

Studio ell, I'm new and starting out. A graphic designer with a few brands and some kick butt designs. What are a few sites you can recommend where the price would be right and not to high? I really in need to get this started quick and you seem like you know what you are talking about. Thank you in advanced!

Smile Re: How Does Zazzle Stack Up?

My Zazzle sales actually increased dramatically after the June 2013 revamp. I think it is because Zazzle pays other sellers 15% or more on Referral Sales. That encourages other people to sell each others designs.

I am grateful that Zazzle has now become a part-time income. I am working hard to make it a full-time income.

I think it was well thought out on Zazzle's part to make this big change. People were very upset at first. I am not sure if they are still upset or not but for me, it helped.

Besides promoting your own designs, try promoting other sellers stuff and see how that goes for you. I know it is almost 1 year later but maybe you will see this.

So far I really like the quality of the products that I and my family bought.
