Default People who use ZAZZLE

So I'm thinking about putting my products on Zazzle just to see which designs sell, if any. How well has it worked for you? How much commission or whatever do u make per shirt/item?

Am I missing any fine details? Thanks.

I'm a Zazzle girl and I've done quite well. At Zazzle you set your own commission price of anything over 10%. Of course, you have to keep it within reason so the price isn't too high, but you can go as high or low as you want.

Also, you can put your design on so many other products other than T-Shirts, as long as it looks good. They also have an affiliate program, where you can promote and help sell other people's products and make a 15% commission. It's a pretty great deal.

How well you succeed on Zazzle is up to you. If you just put products up without marketing or doing any sort of promoting and hoping they'll sell, you might sell a few things, but you won't be doing nearly as well as you could be doing. The more you market and promote yourself the better you will do. That's with Zazzle and anything outside of Zazzle.

Good luck with your choice.

Hi Nyxxie,

I'm also looking to get into the zazzle and wanted to know how things started off for you. How many different teeshirts did you start with before people started buying from you? Would you recommend on focusing on something like getting 2 good designs as opposed to coming up with 20 that might not have as good quality?

Really like your fruit designs...cheerful and make me hungry!

Thanks!

Well, It's different for everyone. With me I started out thinking that just a few designs would be a enough, but that's not the case. The more I produced, the more I sold. Most Zazzlers goal is to make it to 1000 products and keep trying for more and more. But really it all depends on your quality of designs, how much you promote, and how much time you really want to invest in it.

For me, I'm still at under 3000 products and I've been there for 2 years and I'm doing well.

You have to realize that there are literally BILLIONS of products on Zazzle. So you have to promote as much as possible so people can find you via search engines.

And I definitely recommend creating quality designs, always. If it takes you longer, that's okay, it pays off in the end.

Also, many people think that you have to put one design on many shirts. Don't do this! The customer can easily change the style of the shirt. So just keep it to 1-3 shirts per design. Use as many relevant tags as possible.

Good luck. If you have any other questions you can contact me or the Zazzle forum is a GREAT resource filled with people ready to help you.

Thanks for your insight nyxxie! I definitely wouldn't have thought about trying to produce as many designs as you mentioned....but I can see how that plays into the numbers game.

Is there anyone that can say that they make $50-200 a month on Zazzle? I would really like to see this person's portfolio and see where he/she has accomplished in what I would call the startup phase or just selling as a side-job.

I think will create a new post about this

Everyone at Zazzle with a ProSeller status has been making on average at least $100 a month for at least three consecutive months. For Silver ProSelles it’s at least a $1000. You can visit Zazzle forum and click on the user IDs of such Zazzlers, which will take you to their galleries. This will give you a general idea of what a successful stores look like. However, this would be just a visible tip of the iceberg. A lot of work would be done behind the scenes, i.e. promoting, advertising, creating and such. Best of luck.

I'm a pro seller with Zazzle and I must say you need to have patience as with anything. I statred with Cafepress and have been converting all of my pages with Zazzle products. Very feww are my own because I'm not an artist. My success comes from years of internet marketing. Give them a shot.

thanks Dave. I know that internet marketing requires a bit of patience....could you give me some idea of how long it took before web surfers found your site? Just curious if this is something that takes 6months, 1 year, 2.....I know that it's different for everyone, but it would be helpful to get some sort of benchmark. Thanks for sharing again

I've been on CP for two years and just recently began moving my products to zazzle. I'm pretty pleased with their volume bonus program and the affiliate program. I have three shops for a total of about 500 products and in the first two weeks I've made about $25. I have an external site with a zstore data feed and I promote one of my three stores and two other awesome stores iI found in my niche on it.

The best thing about POD is really that the work you do one day keeps making you money without any additional work. I have one design on CP that took me 20 minutes to make and upload into the store and I make about $300-500 a year on it.

The cool thing about zazzle is that it only costs you your time! It is also cool for testing out what a design looks like on a shirt (or a whole bunch of other products) You can even create a very customized store with your own graphics. Plus there is an online forum to help getting into how it works. My only reservations would be:
1.A lot of traffic seems to be cats/dogs/nostalgic/mothersday/etc etc- possibly not a good place to promote "different" ideas (though there are some very original designers there - even OBEY has a skateboard shop!)
2.You need to put a lot of effort into creating loads of products. My impression is that if you do your own graphics you are on a loosing streak compared to others doing simple clip art / copy cat stuff.

I've used Zazzle for 1 year I have no complaint besides the fact they fill your page and order the advertisments that you may not want especially if you didnt brand yourself properly. I agree with everyone that it all really depends on the amount of effort you do with zazzle and how well you advertise yourself outside of zazzle.

Zazzle has a really good selection, but as with all services(cafepress, spreadshirt, etc) the payout is on the low because they have to make their cut, you can set your royalties but you will have to justify a high priced shirt.
What i started doing mid-year last year was selling through zazzle and on my own in my city. Its working out better but thats just common sense when you think about it. (Theres more than One way to skin a shirt ;p)

This is why I think I haven't been doing too well on the Zazzle front too. :/
