Default Epson 1500W Replacement for Screen Printing Positives

My temperamental Epson 1500W has finally decided to stop working properly. I can't get the black printing head to perform an acceptable nozzle check and the positives are not up to scratch. I've tried cleaning fluids to flush through the printing head and even left fluid in the head for a few days to try and unblock it. I've also tried all the tricks and tips from You Tube but it's been no good.

As this printer is no longer available to buy I was wondering what would be a good replacement? And where suitable 3rd party ink can be bought for it?

Before I go ahead and buy a replacement, as the other heads are performing well on my 1500W could I just use the magenta head for black ink? I only use the printer for black positives so I wouldn't mind the sacrifice. Not sure how this would work practically. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

The Epson ET14000 is a four colour version 1500w (1430Artisan in USA) - same internals but with eco tanks.
The L1800 is a full 6 colour eco tank 1500w/1430. Again same internals. It has been available in Asia since 2015 but it isn't available in Western Europe or USA, so you will have to import from Eastern Europe.

Both are a bit expensive so if you are on a budget then try the WF 7710/15/20 range for A3+ printing. Apparently they can be temperamental with a Ciss or refilable carts so you will need to use pre-filled carts.

There is also the Epson XP 15000, but it uses a strange colour set so you will be stuck with paying for Epson carts.

Try Alex from Ink Experts - good ink and knows his stuff.

Thank you both.

The 7720 looks like the way to go for me. Pat - Do you have personal experience with this printer?

Cheers.

Not as such.

I was going to get one to double up as an inkjet transfer printer ( it comes with pigment ink) and as a general office printer. I didn't get one because all of the prefilled after market cartridges available in the UK contain dye ink ( ideal for screen making but no good for transfers).

I emailed Alex from Ink Experts and he said that he couldn't source a refillable cartridge that was reliable (for that model) so my only option for pigment ink would be a ciss, which I don't want in the office.

That's a long winded way of saying 'no'.

If you are not bothered about the paper cassette trays then the 7715 is the same printer with a traditional back feed only. Cheapest option at about £150 from Currys.
