Hey everyone, my name is Joey and I'm BRAND NEW at all of this........ I just want to start by saying *Thanks* to all of you pro's out there being SO helpful to everyone! I'm so glad I found this place! OK, First question...... I'm going to buy a C120 printer for my heat press. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the stretchy transfers for light clothes. Do I need to buy another printer for the dye sub inks? My heat press comes with a mug press and a hat press. Should I buy 2 seperate printers? I've been looking into the CIS and I like the fact that I can save so much $ on the inks. 2nd question......... Do I absolutly NEED a $650 and up program to print out good transfers? Thanks in advance for the help, You'll be hearing from me a LOT more!! LOL:eek:

Hi Joey and :welcome: from PA.

There are two stretchy papers, Ironall light (has fade issues) and Jetprosofstretch (awesome, no fade. :)) We also call that JPSS. You can find it at places like tshirtsupplies.com and New milford photo for a decent price, or google more suppliers.

A C120 is a great printer for making 8.5x11" size designs/transfers.

Do I need to buy another printer for the dye sub inks?
Yeah, that's the best idea because otherwise you'd have to purge inks to go between the ink that you use for inkjet heat transfer sheets - like the JPSS - and the totally different ink - dye sublimation ink, that you use when doing sublimation. The C120's refurbs were just on Epson.com for $31.20 a few days ago. That seems to happen every few weeks. I have a few of them, they are great, no problems.

Yeah, cis is awesome for that. Have you seen any suppliers yet? I always hear of inkjetcarts.us for the heat transfer ink, and shopdyesub.com for the dye sub, but there are alot of other suppliers out there. A search will show you. If you search the names of those suppliers I gave you, you'll find the feedback on the forum for them.

2nd question......... Do I absolutly NEED a $650 and up program to print out good transfers? Thanks in advance for the help,
Like what kind of program do you have in mind? I would say not. Alot of folks use free shareware here, like gimp.org (similar to photoshop), and inkscape.org (like corel)

Does that help in anyway? Not sure what you meant, took a shot. :)

Thanks so much for the quick response! Yes, I meant Photoshop or Corel. I have a lot of great designs in my head but can't really draw that well....... I'm going to make practice shirts for my daughter's soccer team and the logo is a hurricane (M.C. Herricane's). Any thoughts on how to do this??????? As I said, I'm brand new to this so I'm sorry if these are stupid questions! ANY help will be SO appriciated!

Youtube has alot of inkscape and gimp tutorials, as well as corel and ps. I also bought Corel 3x on ebay for $70 shipped to me. There are alot of tutorials on Corel and I hear its a bit more newbie friendly then inkscape.

I am going to be learning vector, because I am adding vinyl to my heat press transfer papers. For jerseys, you may need to look at vinyl too, unless you are doing the team shirts in cotton. JPSS works with cotton and 50/50 cotton blends. :)

PS: There are no stupid questions... we've all started somewhere. There are alot of threads on here, and once you start getting the terminology down pat, it will be easier for you to know what to search for in the threads. :)
