Need to print a 4" yellow lightning bolt on a grey shirt. To get the yellow to show brightly. Should I use Plastisol ink? Or can is there a water based ink that will work? Or would a double hit with regular yellow do it. Oh. also have no flash dryer or heat gun.

Without a flash dryer or heat gun you can't cure plastisol ink, so that pretty much rules it out as a possibility. As far as waterbased inks, you may have to print a really heavy layer to get a really bright yellow, or underbase and then print the yellow on top. Waterbased ink absorbs into the fibers of the shirt, which dulls the color, so you may need to "load it up" to get a bright color.

Personally, I'd get a flash unit and use plastisols.

Yellow Inks are the worst as they are the least in opaque pigment since chromium metals were ruled out in the 80's

Here is what you can simply do with what you have and a cheap addition.

Get a flexible teflon sheet from Stahl's and an iron.

Set the iron on cotton. Print first hit, cover carefully with teflon sheet and iron for about 5 seconds. ( you will have to experiment as you want to just flash the ink not DRY it (about 5 seconds)) Print again and again till it is as bright and dense as you wish. Should take print flash print. Then cure with iron and teflon sheet 10-15 seconds. Once cooled stretch hard to see if print cracks. If it does cure longer. In a few tries you will have it. GOOD LUCK!

Yeah GOOOOOD LUUUUCCKK with that!!!
If I was you I would try it out and see the results of some test prints. Do you have a good press with multiple stations? do you have a conveyor dryer? if i were you and I had a multi station press I would use a 110 mesh, hard flood the image area print until the screen is cleared, the trick is in the flood and the stroke along with some other factors like screen tension. check this guy out, i have done this with white ink on a 110 mesh screen and it works as long as your screen is tight.

OMG I've been doing this for 30 years. Junk fake is Junk fake junk.

I haven't used a 110 for 20 years. Worthless especially when women are going to be sweating.

Get with it. The key is: Least amount of ink for maximum amout of coverage. /How simple is that!?

Have a 4 color 1 station press using 110 mesh. I did a hit with white used a blow dryer on it. Then did a layer of the yellow on top of the white. Used a blow dryer on the yellow. Then laid down the black outline on top of that. They registered nicely and the yellow is vibrant. Considering I've only been doing this since May I'm happy with the result. Will stay tuned to hear how to improve technique. Thanks everyone.
