After toying with the idea of adding embroidery to our existing screen printing business, we recently went all in and purchased a small embroidery shop from someone who was retiring from the business. Besides the single head Baradun machine and tons of hoops, threads etc, the package came with Wilcom Embroidery Studio 2.0 level 1. Here are our options:

Re-license: $300
Update to Embroidery Studio Designing E3.0: $750
Upgrade to Embroidery Studio Advanced with all the elements except chenille, sequins: $2000

I'm looking for some advice on which way to go. Not sure how deep we will get into digitizing down the road but if the update/upgrade pricing was good, maybe we get them and work our way into it? Thanks in advance for the advice!

Personally, I don't do any embroidery, but after upgrading to Embroidery Studio E3, the people who work in the embroidery department of the company I work for have seemed like much happier people! I honestly don't know a ton about it, but they raved about that upgrade, so I would definitely say you should look deep into it and consider it.

Congrats on your business!! as for the Wilcom situation you have to update and re-license. you cannot buy older versions like e2. when I took the class Theresa said everybody updates every 3-5 years. importing 3rd party .EMB will also differ depending on versions. the current one will most likely work. I currently have e2 but have done my own work in digitizing.
