Hi,

I was speaking to a large Subli manufacturer (no companies mentioned) who have wide format printers and relevant ink but also run a couple of R1800's on it. Anyone got experience of wide format on subli inks and is there much difference?

I did mention that Sawgrass probably wouldn't be happy. Would I be correct in assuming this is dodgy even though most of their printing is wide format. I ask this as I want to use a wide format printer but still keep a small printer for relevant work. Any other pointers how best to get ink prices down?

Cheers,

Andrew

Andrew, you can still keep working with your desktop printer even if you get a large format. Keeping the same ink in both is really no real advantage as different printers print differently anyway and each requires it's own ICC profile.
Basically, keep the sawgrass ink in the desktop, use the wide format ink in the wide format printers. Use the proper ICC profiles for each combination of ink, paper and printer and the colors should be similar... if not adjust your color profiles on one of the two printers to match the colors on the other. While it's true that the gamut of different ink sets is usually different you should be able to match most colors without a problem.
