Who really goes to clothing shows like Magic, Agenda or some other big event?

When should you start going to clothing exhibits like that? 1st year, 2nd, 5th maybe? Or should you even go?

Is it a waste of money?

Did it really get you more sales?

*Sorry for the colossal amount of questions... haha xD

Typically serious buyers go to shows. I see Buyers from chains and lots of owner/buyers of stores. I have been going to shows for over 10 years. First I see the companys I regularly sell (by appointment) then I walk the show looking for new brands. that the hard part. Whos booth is worth your valuble time to stop at, then if you do stop and look, will you ever order.
Usually I only buy when the customers are asking for a brand.
But, you have to start somewhere.
I really belive its best to grass roots market, do careful product placement giveaways (promotion) in your respective markets before the tradeshows.
Best of success!!!

I have done a number of shows myself. MAGIC and Project Las Vegas. Also shows in NYC and Dallas. Thinking about doing a show in Atlanta because it does not cost as much as the other cities.

But shows are a form of advertising. It's like commercials on the radio or TV. Few people are gonna give you orders right away just because they saw you. If you are serious, you need to do shows over and over again to gain real sales.

I'd say if you have money set aside for advertising, then by all means do shows. Otherwise, just do direct marketing yourself like sending out postcards to retailers. Many brands list their customers on their websites. Download the customer information and send them your line sheet. More effective and less expenseive this way.

It's a big investment for any brand to participate in these size's of shows. When your business starts to pick up nationally, and there is an actual demand for your product you will probably have a better understanding weather or not it would be beneficial for you to participate. Brands that attend these shows also carry a whole arsenal of clothing. Not just shirts.

Think of Magic as an advertisement and a brand awareness opportunity. That should be repeated annual for a few years.

The Agenda Show

Project and the Pool Show were bought by MAGIC and now run at the same time. Project also has a show in NYC. P R O J E C T

Another option is temporary showrooms at market weeks in major wholesale cities. I want to try Atlanta soon. LA and Dallas market weeks have been disappointing. NYC is almost impossible to find a showroom to rent and can be just as expensive as attending Project NYC.

This guy exhibited at the California Market Center in LA. I don't know him so I don't know how he did. But he is doing all the right things to market his line. Check out pictures of his booth. Arka Clothing completed the Focus Trade Show

Anybody here did the Thread Show? I heard it is not expensive and has decent traffic. Thread

Hi Victor, Didn't know that.
I am looking for tee and hoodie maufacturers, but at this time I just need finished items. (not ready for cut and sew yet). Just trying to set up contacts so as the quantitys get large I am ready.
I have Sampled A Apparel, have Bare Apparel on the way.
I dont want to be cutting out tags to do private label, and need contacts that will do quality work and supply.

Also, If you are showing I will stop by!
