For some reason after switching from JetPro SS to JetWear IYA Lite, we started having printing issues using our Epson 1400. The problem is when it is printing the design, the ink stays wet so by the time it runs under the feeders, it makes lines throughout the design, causing us to have to cut so much more paper than normal. That is our main issue.

Also, after printing and pressing for a last minute order for a family reunion, the shirts leaked WHILE the people were wearing them. The order was completed at 9:30am and the shirts we worn starting at 3pm the same day. Everything was fine at first, until a lady spilled water on her shirt and it smeared portions of the design. And because of the heat outside (playing games and running around), some people were sweating and it blurred the family name on the back. It was very embarrassing. Can anyone tell me what happened?

We use OME ink for the Epson 1400. print on JetWear IYA Lite (11x17), pressed with a swing away heat press on hanes heavyweight white tshirts. We printed from Microsoft Publisher after the design for the shirts was created in photoshop. Hope that helps to help me :)

ole Jobe is probably right about the cause, but I will add that the pack of Iron-all I just returned was bleeding all over the place. The vendor told us it was "defective", whatever that means. I know that a few years back, Iron-all got a bad rep because of a "bad batch" problem from a particular vendor, and was pulled from many places. It reappeared and seemed good again. The samples I bought were wonderful, so I placed a large order. I am disgusted with the paper I was sold and the vendor is even charging a "restocking fee" of 20% for accepting the return. It's not like I bought something and then changed my mind--this paper was UNUSABLE, and wasted ink, time, and shirts in addition to this 20% gouging they are doing. Needless to say, I won't buy from them again.

Just to make sure you haven't got defective paper, you might see about getting it printed with pigment inks and then testing it to see if it runs. But ole Jobe is right, pigment inks are the best choice for that paper.

Thanks for the response. I ordered the transfer paper from tshirtsupplies.com. I called them yesterday about it and they said that the OEM ink was the best to use with this type of paper. Hmmmm, Im not understanding why they are saying one thing and on this post something else is being said. I guess I will call them again. Because i asked them about ink BEFORE ordering this paper. I too ordered a small order at first (50) and they were fine. But when I went up in quantity, these were terrible and just would not dry. i think I am going to switch back to JETPRO SS since it doesn't seem to matter about the ink used. Only thing is, JET Pro has special wash instructions and the JetWear IYA does not and it blends great with shirts after washing! sigh! oh well!

I feel your pain! I loved the samples I got and was so disappointed with the results. I was going to order from TSS myself, thinking maybe they had a "good" supply of Iron-all, but I guess it's back to JetPro. I love JetPro--it's hardy, reliable, all that stuff, but it's just a tiny bit less great than Iron-all, at least the Iron-all that isn't "defective", as the vendor called it. I think Iron-all, to the unpracticed eye, is very difficult to distinguish from trad screen printing, depending on the artwork. That's how impressed I was with it. And yeah, it washes up great, gets softer every time, stretches nicely… *sigh*

If you can get hold of a friend with a pigment printer and compare results, I'd be super-grateful. I was actually about to place an order for Iron-all with TSS just yesterday, but a little voice told me to wait.

Maybe some others will weigh in here on this and you won't have to bother.

I used to use a CISS an it was fine until we let the printer sit without turning it on for over 3 weeks. When we went back to use it, the color was terribly off. Thank God it was still under warranty. With that being said, all the transfer paper, from Jet Pro to IYA to even the metallic all printed great with the CISS. But I got fearful after having the printer replaced and decided to stay with the OEM INK. And now I am having this issue. sigh! I gotta figure out something as we just got another order today due July 10. A much bigger order!

Decisions, decisions!

It never ends! You think you're "set" and then something changes the variables (wow! new paper!), or you get some bright idea about improving the system (wow! new printer!), and it's back to the testing lab.

Good luck getting that order filled! :)
