Hello all,

I am new to the forum and looking for some help. I searched the forums about which screen printing classes to take, but none of which answered my question.

First off, I would like to tell you a little about my screen printing experience. I screen printed back in 2012 for about 4 months and over that time I learned a lot, learning from my dad and on YouTube. I was able to learn the basics, how to setup the screen, how to print, etc. I printed at the shop for about four months. I recently just opened a screen printing business and currently confident with the knowledge I learned 2 years ago, but since I have my own business now, I would like to expand my knowledge and skill in screen printing. I am more of a business man, but I would like to become both a professional screen printer and successful entrepreneur.

I have experience with burning screens, setting up, and printing. The only thing I don't know how to do is coat the screen with emulsion. My dad usually does that for me. I haven't printed since 2012 because I have my dad's employees printing for me, but I would like to print on my own so I can have control on the quality that I will be producing.
Is it best for me to take the basics/beginner class first or just move onto the advanced class? Also, which class fits for me the most, Ryonet's or Bill Hood's?

Thanks

I'm interested in doing this too. I really need help getting the off press and what it should feel and look like afterward. I have trouble with rough prints and even my lightest black on light doesn't seem thin and light handed enough.

Also want a lot on waterbase because I know NOTHING about that and am very interested. I'd rather not waste a day learning how to use illustrator or artwork wise. I need a decent tweaking to make things better class. But main thing is to learn and get hands on water base.

It sounds to me like the only thing you really need help on is coating the screens with emulsion and that you already know most of what they teach in the classes. Why not have your Dad or one of his employees show you how to do it and then just spend a few hours practicing until you get the right touch. If you'd rather not ask them, there are loads of Youtube vids on how to do it.
