I don't have a lot of time to make this post, so I'll try to get my details out quickly. I have been designing graphics for over a year. I have the desire to try to sell shirts online, and eventually get some in stores. My designs all vary in size, color, and complexity. From all of my research, I know that certain shirts would be best produced by one method, while other shirts by another. For instance, I have some designs that are simple and black and go on a white shirt. So just about anything works, but my thought is that I could get plastisol transfers for pretty cheap being that it is on color. (Though I have thought of doing that design as black on red, and white on black as well) I have other designs that are pretty much a digital image in quality. I have another that is a full collar to stomach print, so it is too big for a transfer. I figure that one would be best screen printed. (It's a play on those shirts with the bikini/muscle body printed on them, that go from the neck down)
Anyway, if you were getting started in the business, how would you meet all these orders. I was thinking about doing plastisol transfers myself, and then outsourcing whatever was not plausible with transfers. What other process should I use? Maybe I could just line up a good DTG source or maybe a screen printer?
Any thoughts would be great. I was hoping to keep inventory lower to start, which made transfers even more appealing. DTG I can do in low quantities, but screen printing not so much.
