Hello

I run a clothing brand where i sell printed tshirts, I deal with silk screen print houses.

I am trying to approach digitial printing to avoid minimum quantities of silk screen printing and to have the ability to offer more designs and custom needs.

What would be the best digital printer that would be nearest to silk screen in quality of print fastness specially with printing on non white tshirts?

Well, there is no "best printer" but if you are going for the feel - softer hand have printers with epson printheads.

1- Location: Egypt-Cairo the printer would be at office as a start, could be moved to a store later on if I decide to retail.

2- Selling price point: 13-15$ per tshirt

3- Quantity of shirts needed per month: cannot give an accurate but.. But as a starting point plan: av.300 pcs per month

4- Basically online, I may decide to retail then the printer would be moved to the store.

5- Size of print image: designs max. limit is 30width x 40length (cm)

6- I need to have good printing quality as possible per color tones and color fastness on non white tees (light to dark shades)

All the major direct to garment printer models out there should be able to do a 12 inch x 16 inch print.

You need to check on where you would be able to buy the ink from. Is it available in Egypt or will you have to bring it in. The cost of the ink and the delivery cost to you will have an effect on your potential profit.

Will the room you would be keeping the printer in climate controlled. You want to keep the humidity level at 50% and not have the temperature too hot.

What garments will you be printing on. You can find many threads on the Forums going over how the quality of the shirt brand affects the print.

while you can most likely achieve your goals with a DTG, don't even think about comparing it to your screen printed shirts. it's apples and oranges. the majority of my screen print customers prefer the DTG prints, but their budget will still dictate which route they go.
