Where'd Spreadshirt get their clipart from? Copyright?
I saw their design of the week is a "drunk crossing" shirt. I've been seeing that for years. How does Spreadshirt have that clip art and own the copyright for it? Surely someone designed the drunk crossing thing before Spreadshirt got a hold of it, and I doubt Spreadshirt bought the clip art from *the* original drunk crossing designer.

For some of the images, they go through the normal legal channels for contacting the licensing agent for the intellectual property.I assumed that, but I'm wondering how.
For others, some of the images are so generic, that they do not have a trademark or copyright associated with them (or they have gone through the proper channels by finding the copyright owner).
