Hello All, I want to do some personalization part time. I would like to do baby items(bibs, onsies, t-shirts, etc.); I would also like to do small gift items (tiles, tablet sleeves, etc.) I am usually a very crafty person, but this genre escapes me. BTW my budget is somewhat limited. Any information or insight would be greatly appreciated.:D

For bibs, shirts, etc. Either heat press vinyl or sublimation would be the way to go. For sublimation you will need a heat press and a sublimation printer. For heat press vinyl you would need a heat press and a vinyl cutter.

For tiles, are you considering etching? If so, a vinyl cutter to cut out your stencil. Place that on your tile and then do chemical etch with a product like Etchall Etching Creme. You can also do ornaments, glass, windows, etc. The creme is reusable so you can do a lot of etching with a little creme.

For items to embroider, take a look at Komet Creations (Komet Creations) and Terry Town (Terry Town - Expect Quality). Also consider getting an account with SanMar (www.SanMar.com) or alphabroder (www.alphabroder.com). There are also a lot of other good suppliers in the links at the left of this page.

My advice is to move forward with learning things at a pace that brings you a sense of happiness and enthusiasm. When you start to feel stressed and overwhelmed, take it as a sign that you need slow down. Have fun with it.

Finally, Jackie Jagger (The Embroidery Coach | Embroidery Business Guidance Step by Step with The Embroidery CoachThe Embroidery Coach) is very generous with her time and advice on helping people get started. You can submit questions to her and listen to her online webinars at no cost. She is very organized and interesting in what she has to say.
