hi binki, i use corel and pc. most of the time.
I just drag and drop the font files into the PC/control-panel/fonts directory.

it gets installed into your computer and COREL calls them up for use.
In your C:/windows/fonts folder of microsoft windows.

Here's a thread that might help as well:

wow, you guys are fast. thanks for the info...
For Mac OSX, it's in /Library/Fonts
if you are building a large collection... extensis suitcase is really useful. you can turn fonts on and off. otherwise, if you load your systems folder with fonts... it takes longer to load, sometimes they get corrupted and mess up stuff...etc etc.
really ? i have 500-1000 fonts on my XP laptop and it runs fine (fast). :(

At $80 it seems a bit pricey for what it does though.

Does anyone have a good free font management software they recommend?

I <3 "The Font Thing". :) You can compare fonts side-by-side, create custom collections, and keep notes on them as well. It's free too, I think I got it from cnet downloads or something like that.
The Font Thing is almost seven years old. I mean if it works, it works, but that does make me nervous :)

But it was created by an Aussie.. that should make up for it. :D

Seriously though.. it works really well. Try it out.
Yep, The Font Thing works very well.

This was more of an issue with older versions of Windows; too many fonts could cause some major problems and slowdown on 95 or 98. It will still potetially slow down XP, but it isn't as big of a problem.

Of course, there's also the issue of actually looking through that many fonts when you want to actually use them...

Sometimes newer stuff is worse, even updates to old programs can be worse sometimes. Old stuff can be quality (especially older games ;)

One example is DVD Maestro, a DVD Authoring programs that's 5+ years old (got bought out and hasn't been updated). It's still easily considered one of the best programs in the business.
Well it does mean seven years of tested stability at least :)
