Blankshirts.com is a real good source I use. If you order 36 or more total shirts you will get the best discount. And that 36 can be a mix of colors, the total just has to equal at least 36. They have a nice selection of shirts to choose from. As far as using a 50/ 50 blend, well I use a 100% cotton, but I would say to use whatever the manufacturer of the transfer paper suggests to use.
