I have an extra $10k to spend. This was a little unexpectant so now I am considering buying equipment that I don't currently have. I heat press and order custom made transfers. I'm thinking of making my own transfers... what equipment would I need in order to get a very high grade quality product OR... would you advise I save it and put it towards a DTG machine or something... OR save it for an actual screen press... bear in mind that none of these am I very familiar with. Worst case scenerio I will just use it as working capital.

yeah but then you have the payments!! :D

And a really big smile...:D:D:D

Seriously though, $10K won't get you into either DTG or screen printing on a grand scale. Since you already have the heat press and your current transfer stuation is working, maybe adding a plotter would be logical. A lot depends on your customer base and what they are asking for that you can't provide.

yeah if you get yourself a dtg printer do you have a steady flow of clients or not. if you don't then a dtg wont work for you. reason is we have looked into a dtg and they (sellers) have asked the one question do you have clients already who do mult color jobs if not then your going to have to do a test print every week or the heads will clog and then your out alot more money. if you feel that you want another heat press then go and get another one maybe with a few more bells and whisle and hey might help you grow abit more. 2 machines are better then 1.

If I had 10k to spend I'd buy a vinyl cutter or a used versacam if I could find one within 10k and if just a vinyl cutter than I'd upgrade my heat press to an air unit. If you don't have one already they're awesome to work on. Then I'd take the rest and go on a decent vacation.

i would love a dtg. i'm just not sure i *need* one at this point. i'd probably do equipment upgrades like get at least a six station press, new aluminum screens and be able to do all-over prints, the printer i want, and software. i need a new flash dryer, too. having not even done a cursory bit of research into it, i would check out what doing rhinestone transfers would set me back.

i would definitely get a vinyl rig, plenty of vinyl, and some stock. then i would set-up at the massive flea market nearby and start off with trying to hawk local school mascot shirts, both vinyl and more complex screen printed versions. there's actually not a lot of that stuff around unless you look for it, and even then the designs are usually just kind of blah.

not that there would be much, if anything, left over, but if there was i would put together a great website. advertising would probably take it over the top. :)

what i would really do is website, SEO, and throw in a little extra to pick up a laser engraver.

gimme $50K, and that's a completely different story! :)
