I have had 3 new printers in the 2 months and none of them have worked. the first 2 failed while the techs were installing them. The third wasn't actually a new printer it was a combo of the first two. I payed for a new one but got rebuilt one. This would have been fine if it had worked properly. durning the first week of operation the registration on the dark shirts was off and the choke on the rip wouldn't correct the problem. Then the main operating board went out over the weekend and I couldn't print for 5 days. once I got the board put in I still had the registration problem to deal with, but I had to print some of the orders I had and discount them. I printed for one day and a belt on the platen drive motor streched and wouldn't work.
I have asked for a refund so I buy a dependable screen printer. Something I can get my business going and producing some income. I was told that there would be 20% restocking fee which I could understand if I just decided that the printer wasn't for me or just didn't like it. They did offer to replace it again but I just opened and need equipment that I can count on to do the jobs I have. Just wondering what others think.

It doesn't sound like you did your due diligence. Used equiptment in a young technology is really dangerous. Service is an expensive issue, so buying crap costs way more than you save. that said..

I came into the biz as a newbie, researched, attended shows, searched this site , for a year and ended up buying a Brother GT541....freakin love it.
I sacrifice white ink..thank God..for dependability and great prints. I clean it ( self clean ) once a week ...and I can't break it. I advertise that I don't do darks up front...biz is great.

so...sorry for your very expensive problem...cut and run. If you get it working now...what happens in a month...in the middle of a big job ? buy dependability FIRST and options second.

We paid cash, for a new printer, because we are still discussing the problem with the dealer we wish to keep the brand to ourselves, however was an expensive new printer. After the dispute is settled we will glady discuss the brand and the run-around we are recieving.

Just trying to decide if we want to try another ink jet at this time or go simply go to screen printing.

Thanks
Thanks Shane, I can respect that line of thinking....good luck.

I don't want " grease " I want to get/give useful information. Combining two machines parts MAKES the third machine a used piece. I stand by all I posted. I was tempted to by more features, but went with more dependability. I see no reason to throw good money after bad. This is a long term investment he is talking about, the core has to be solid..That is my message. I sincerely hopes it helps. The lesson here is .research, and compounding a mistake. " have a nice day " makes him no money

I'm not saying I agree that they did the right thing by combining 2 machines. I was simply stating that was the solution given to them. Not the right solution, IMO, but it was the solution. That being said, it was no choice to them, so they could have researched all they wanted, they didn't agree to that.

In hind-sight, my wife, was correct. We should have never settled for a rebuild machine, but we had orders that had to be filled, and the tech was confident he could resolve the issues. He worked long into the night to help get a working printer.

We have come to an agreement that we feel works for both parties and hope to have success with it. Thanks for your comments.

I prefer to pay for things when possible or put as much down as possible or use my bank line of credit, I noticed you paid cash and on an investment like this a 3 year lease with a 1.00 buyout probably would have had 4-6 thousand in finance charges.

In hindsight do you think you would have had more traction or a bigger stick to swing with the manufacture if you had leased as obviously what you bought was not what you got. Just curious if having the leasing company not getting paid or being in your corner may have helped more.

I am glad you have been able to work something out that works for you but just curious as I am planning to head into the dtg with white ink market and that fear of the unknown and unexpected drives me nuts and was just wondering if paying cash was a detriment to you in this case.

Thanks and best of luck

American Express is my big stick. There interest is always me, not the vendor. Never leave home, or got to a show without it!

Tru Dat, they are great, I have even had stores say they will not do a return, I ask for the manager and say I want a signed document that I left the item with the manager(even while he says no credit will be issued sir) then i explain that I will let amex fight with them and then they say , uh ok we will do the return. Nobody likes messing with the cc companies but some of these vendors don't want amex due to those high fees.

You think that double warranty priveledge applies if you use your amex gold on a purchase like this Printzilla?
