Hi there -

Ok I have a chance to get my line picked up, its kinda a trade show - art show in nyc. My connection was saying I had to make a press kit & one thing was my wholesale prices.

Ok I think I can get my Tees printed for about $4 per.

3 Questions:

1) Is there a "general" price that most T-shirt Clothing Lines kinda charge for their Wholesale Prices???? If so whats the range?

2) What everyone say would be a good price for me set mine at "If" I can get them printed at $4 per shirt for 12 shirts.

*3) Ive never seen a real Press Kit, Ive made some, but to be honest I dont know if im giving to much or not enough information.... Can someone show me theirs & or tell me in order what exactly it should have!

Thank you!
:)

$4 a shirt for 12 shirts? Good luck with that. I hope you are able to find someone willing to do it.
there is no standard or range for wholsale pricing.
every market and every garment is different.
the main thing is your wholesale price must be 50% or less of retail price, stores wont give you a second glance if they cant at least double their money and many will want a 30, 60 or even a 90 day term before you get any payment

No I have that price already! Im asking with that cost... what should I set my price to sell wholesale. Whats the average price which isn't high or low, is there kinda a standard price?

hmmm ok, So lets say $11 wholesale. In my press kit should I set a retail "suggestion" from $22 -$24 per shirt?

Wholesale - $11 per
Retail Suggestion - $22-$24 per

Would that look odd when im designing the press kit?
$4..?!?!?! Does that include the shirt Plus print if you order on 12 ..? If so I guess it's true.. A sucker is born every minute..(not you) the sucker printing for $4

I guess the standard is whatever you can find someone to pay for them. Like David said, stores want to make at least a 50% profit. So if the average tee sells for $20 your wholesale would be $10.

Think? So does that mean you haven't gotten any shirts printed at that price yet?

Make sure you are not missing anything with your production costs. You should be including the blank shirts, the printing, screens, films, artwork and shipping. And if you need any extras, like re-labeling, hangtags, folding, etc, make sure you include that as well.

I'm not saying you can't get shirts printed for $4. But it's an awfully amazing price for such a low volume. You don't want to expect a certain price and then find out it really costs you a lot more once you actually go through the process. Especially of you are locking yourself into a wholesale price with prospective clients.

Not really. There are too many variables that affect production costs, wholesale prices and retail prices. So it's impossible to have a general price. But a good rule of thumb is to double your production cost. That should be your wholesale price. And then the retailer will double the wholesale price to get the retail price. Just make sure that retail price stays in range with your potential competitors. You don't want to price yourself out of the market. Retailers will not carry your brand if they can get better profit margins from other brands.

$8 wholesale.

Info about you and your brand. What marketing initiatives you have done and what you are planning for the next season or two. A line sheet, which should include... images of all styles and graphics; size chart; wholesale prices; minimum order; turn around times; contact info; terms and conditions. Maybe include a look book with photographic images of your products. And the most important thing... samples! Retailers will want to see samples of products before they place an order.
