What type of print do you do?
do you do it youself, or outsource to a third party?
what brand of shirt do you use?

I m torn between getting all the materials and do heat transfer myself or get the art work screen print by third party and just press it as needed. One of my concern is the art work, I would hate for my art work to be copied by others...

We have members that do it all :)

Not much you can do about that except for copyright/trademark your work and go after offenders after the fact.

Outsourcing your printing to a good supplier is an option to diversify your options. You cannot compete with the economies of scale with screen printing with larger runs.
You should ask yourself who is my target market and what are they willing to pay? These days we are blessed with many t-shirt suppliers who have different weight, cut and standards.
