What type of materials can I cut with my GCC Jaguar IV cutter?

I have a GCC Jaguar IV cutter and I use it for apparel and sign vinyl, rhinestone template material and inkjet transfers. I was trying to "think outside the box" and figure out if there were other materials this machine could cut.

Can it cut fabric to use with my embroidery machine for appliques? I would think I would need to put the fabric on some type of rubber or plastic board while cutting it. Has anyone done this before?

Can it cut chipboard or card stock, etc.

If you've used the cutter for things besides vinyl, inkjet transfers and rhinestone template material, I'd love to hear what you've done. I'm really hoping someone can tell me that it is possible to cut fabric for appliques though :).

Thanks for your help,
Di

Not having done it but I can't see why you can not cut fabric as long as you use some sort of backing sheet. I would use a 60 degree blade for the most angle but for the price of a backing sheet, I would give it a try. You also can cut card stock but not sure about chip board. There is nothing like trying and see what happens. Keep us informed.

Do you know where I can buy a backing sheet that would work with this cutter?
Check the preferred vendor list on the left...<----they have them and inexpensive.
Also, some vendors sell pressure sensitive Twill on a carrier sheet made for cutting on vinyl cutters.

I did find the pressure sensitive twill but I was wanting to use my own fabric. I cannot find any one who has a backing sheet like mentioned before.

I wonder if I could use a quilter's cutting mat or something like that and just use a spray adhesive to hold the fabric down? Would that work on my type of cutter? I don't want to damage it though.
Coastal Business Supplies has them. Type "carrier sheet" into their search option.
Thank you Chuck!!!
Also, some vendors sell mask by the roll that you can use to back your own materials with.
