I am new to trying to start a t-shirt business and the wholesale seller I am trying to buy from is American Apparel and they require your provide your state and fed. tax id numbers but I don't have one because I am just starting out. Do i need one if I just want to start out selling to friends and seeing where my business goes from there? Any help would be appreciated!

You can do what you say but you won't be able to buy from whole sale companies. There are lots of places to get shirts w/o tax numbers I know Rodney pastes a link to a thread that discusses a lot of those places so try a search for no tax Id or buy shirts without tax Id.

Thanks, I have found some companies that you don't need a tax id. Im guessing that's only for people that actually have a legit running business?
