Blog about the things that your customers can relate to. Remember you are using the blog to give your brand a personality of it's own.

If you're selling tshirts to the freshwater fishing community then you want to have discusions about the best bates, your favourite location for catching a certain type of fish, your last fishing trip and photos of your catch, the fishing competition that is comming up, BP's oil spill affecting the freshwater community.

You need to understand your customers and their interest. Talk about what they are receptive to so they associate you brand with their interest.

It will also help that you are enthusiastic about what you are selling and to whom you are selling to. This will enable you to be creative and full of ideas on what to blog about.

Unless you have a marketing department with unlimited resources on tap, it will be easier if your offering is geared towards people just like you.

Who are you and what do you like?

I typically stay away from topics or images that directly relate to competitors. Just find a way to blog what the consumer feels is interesting and speaks the right image about your brand.

If blog is on different domain(other then your site or eCommerce), I think it is good idea to have blog posting reviews about competitors. why? that way, you will get to know how competitors interact with other bloggers & their style of getting backlinks etc. all that will help in future for your own site!

thats my thought if you're planning to run that blog on individual domain. if its on your store's site, go with others have said. completely agree with them. do what your customers want!

Your blog should be about whatever it makes sense for you to talk about. Write about your company, your products, how you come up with your ideas, specials and sales you have, your policies and rules anything that will help people understand your company better. Talk about the competition if it makes sense to talk about them. Don't ever bash the competition, since that never does anyone any good, but compare and contrast a "they do it that way and we do it this way" kind of thing. I don't think you should give excessive publicity to those who are in competition with you, but you don't have to pretend they don't exist either. Just stay open to what is happening around you, and your blog topics will start to naturally flow from the events that occur in your day.

I really like what starchild mentioned about blogging. Getting specific about your niche and how involved you are in it makes for interesting reading!

I usually answer customer questions or focus on new or best selling products in my blog. I typically answer lots of customer questions so I always have topic material. I jot down blog ideas as they come to me while working so when its time to post I refer to my notes rather than having to come up with an idea.

Note that with blogs you don't always have to have to write about something different. Often a subject from a past blog can be "revisited" and presented with a different point of view or with new material added. If you're having trouble getting started spend time reading blogs to get ideas to help develop your own approach to your blog.

I'm glad that my question helped other people to realize the same thing ! :) I think that is ok to mention same times some brand for a reason of course .. for exemple if you want a colaboration, or you have some good relation with this company and they will mention you to .. or yoy have the same clients ... for example I sow on furfaceboy.com blog that he mentioned Johnny Cupcakes , it seems that they have the same custommers and it could have some positive side for furfaceboy to do that .. well you get the point, and me to , :) thank you all !
