I have an opportunity to sell a few of my Triathlon related designs on consignment to a triathlon specific retail store. I'm trying to figure out what sizes and how many to send...at least initially. I'm trying to maximize my potential while keeping my inventory low so I can get decent prices on my order. I have been selling my designs on CafePress for the last two years. Unfortunately, I can't tell what sizes have been bought.

Questions
1. Several of my designs are for kids. Should I offer infant/toddler sizes in addition to Youth? If I do this, I need new art work set up which will cost more. I thought if I offer Youth first, then if the store gets requests for smaller sizes, I can fulfill those. Thoughts?

2. One of my designs is for women and another similar design is for men. Should I offer a women's cut tshirt or start simple with the unisex blanks?

3. How deep in each size should I offer in my initial shipment for adults? For Youth? I'd really love anyone's experience or advice on this. This is my biggest question. Is there a general ratio like 3 S, 5 M, 8 L, 10 XL??? I really have no idea.

4. What would be a decent number of total shirts to send in an initial consignment order? I have a total of 10 designs. Is it better to limit the designs and increase the depth of sizes?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!! This has been a wonderful resource so far and someday I hope be able to offer some advice!

Thanks :)

you might want to talk with the store manager more. they should have a better idea of what sizes sell best at their store, what colors sell best, what kind of designs, etc.

they're probably your best bet as you (and I .. and anyone else that come up with an educated guess) don't really know the clientele like the store manager ... HOPEFULLY

I agree with Nate. I just did a consignment order and they told me what they "think" they can sell. Also don't forget to get a consignment agreement signed. They should be libel for shirts while in their store. Your also going to have to take back what does not sell. Good luck.
