What kind of material is this?

Hi!

I ask this questions a few months ago with no help...

I have seen in many patches that in the backing there is a "mesh". what type of material is this?

Commonly called twill or tackle-twill...

I think the backing is called crinoline (not sure of the spelling).

Most fabric stores should have it. If you have a Joann Fabric or Hancock Fabric in your area you might check with them. If you are old enough to have ever worn a petticoat under a dress or skirt then you know what crinoline is.
