What is the drop volume/size of the Epson print head

The drop size is variable - the machines we work with have 3 different droplet sizes and the prints you see are generally a mixture of the three sizes (dot 1, dot 2 and dot 3, RIP controlled). That being said, different models also have different droplet sizes. To my knowledge the 2200 had the largest maximum droplet at about 41 pl, the 4880 is around 20 pl or so.

Is the 20pl a single drop with that volume or is it a combination of a few small drops? Is the 2200 still available?

I've pretty much exhausted my knowledge on the subject. You can check at Epson's website or Google your question. Epson is fairly secretive about this info, what I know I have learned from Epson certified developers who have insight to the machines in order to write RIP software for them.
