Hi!


I would like to know what is the different between sublimation and screen printing?
I have an all over design for a long sleeve shirt, and I was told, that my artwork can't be screen printed.

Do you have a picture of the artwork? All over screen printing is done all the time. Sublimation is printed on special paper using special ink and then it's heat transfered to the substrate. I haven't done too much research on it, but I heard it only works with 100% cotton garments.. I can be totally wrong though. Perhaps if your artwork has a ton of colors then it would be better off with sublimation.

Screen printing is basically what it sounds like, an image of your graphic is burnt onto a screen, ink is applied to the screen pushed through the screen onto your garment, and works on all types of fabrics....this is in it's simplest form.

Sublimation is done with sublimation ink on polyester or other man made fabrics, basically your graphic is printed onto a type of transfer paper, then applied to your garment with a heat press...does not work on 100% cotton regardless of what you read....and again this is in it's simplest form.

With both types of printing there are all over prints either done before the garment is sewn into a shirt and some after the fact.

it is have 5 color.

IYFGraphics is correct, I only used sublimation until I had my first order a couple years back requiring 100% cotton.....sublimation doesnt work on those......now I screenprint as well. go to the link to see other questions poster here on this topic.

Thanks for clearing that up, I must of totally misread whatever I saw that said 100% cotton.

Yup, and you can run regular pump gas in a race car, just not with great results.

What about it? Chromablast prints on cotton, but it's not dye-sublimation. With dye-sub the image is permanently dyed into the fibres. Chromablast is a surface print.

You can dye-sub on blends, but the more cotton % in the blend - the more washed out print you'll get.
