Hello, Everyone
I am wondering what exactly is sublimation printing, I have read many threads and watched plenty of videos on Youtube and to my current understanding sublimation printing is a heat transfer paper printed with a CIS ink. If my understanding is correct, what is making the product subliminal? Is it the transfer paper or the ink?

Sublimation is a process where a solid chemically goes straight to a gas form. Dye-Sublimation is that process using Dye inks to transfer print into polyester fabrics or objects with a poly coating.

The most common method is by printing Dye Sublimation ink onto a transfer paper. Then heating the transfer paper over your polyester or coated material. Once the inks reach a certain temperature they turn into a gas form. Also during that period the polyester fabrics expand and open (like your pours in your skin). The gas inks then fill into the polyester. Finally, you take off the heat and the polyester fabrics close up trapping the ink gas inside, thus coloring the polyester.

A word of caution. ....dye pigment ink is not for sublimation. .. That is for normal transfers. For sublimation ink you will need Sublimation Ink. Check out DyeSub.org - An educational site for dye sublimation and digital transfer printing. for more info. The site is a bit old but still has good info. Sublimation works only on 100% polyester white or light pastel garments or on polymer coated substrates. With sublimation you will need an ICC profile specific for your ink and printer. Google ICC for description of just what an ICC is. It is necessary to get the colors right
