I know this is a tshirt forum and all but i was wondering if any of you knowlegable gentlemen can help me with this question..

Whilst tshirts is something i will be getting into in the future i currently have a bit of a badge business going, at the moment we cut the badge circles form paper one by one and tbh i'm sick of it.

The badges go onto a template in photoshop and so sit in the same place on the page everytime.. now if i got a cutter would i be able to set it up to cut out all the circles on a page?

thaks

Yes, you could get a vinyl cutter with contour cutting capabilities. This would allow you to setup your template with registration marks, then, once it has printed, load in to the cutter for cutting around each circle.

I would recommend the GraphTec CE5000 as a great starter unit, or if you can swing the cost- the GraphTec FC7000 or FC8000
thanks, i'll take a look at what you have suggested.
Or you could get a Roland GX24...also with optic eye for contour cutting...

Yep, just as popular, and just as good.
To be honest, I'm not sure a vinyl cutter is what you are looking for, it sounds like you'd be looking more along the line of a die cutter.

A vinyl cutter works by only cutting left to right, while motors drive your material up and down. This means that you cannot cut all the way through the material, otherwise you would separate it from the whole sheet and eventually jam the cutter. When cutting vinyl, we only cut the vinyl itself and leave a slight mark on the backing paper it comes adhered to.

A die cutter on the other hand is more like a cookie cutter, you use pressure and force the die through sheet leaving a cutout of whatever shape the die is. So if you're using a glossy photo paper, or some other form of paper for your button, this would be the quickest and best way to get that shape.
Could you not print on A4 label paper that is already diecut to the sizes that you might need ?
Thanks guys,

I can get a die cutter, was just looking for a solution where it would cut whilst i make. :)

Looks like ad ie cutter it is.

I looked at getting pre-made circles but couldnt find anything that would be suitable
