What e-stores are good to sell t-shirts other than e-bay?

I have seen a lot of posts regarding selling on on-line stores (e-bay)etc. But they all seem quite old. Anyone have more current info. on this subject? Some of the names are bigcartel, artfire, ecrater, cafepress and even more. I am researching the tee-shirt business (heat transfer and vinyl cut). I would like to know if any of these would be a good place to get started.
Thanks for any advice,
Kenny

Thanks, but can anyone tell me what kind of success they are having. How many shirts do you sell a month etc.
Thanks,
Kenny
big cartel has been good for us, very easy to use, with paypal. if you market your website you will get orders, or just for your buss site. good luck uncletee
I tried to get rid of some inventory on ebay, T-Shirts I had been selling for $20 were only bringing about $2 on ebay, then I gave up
Question, if I want to use my paypal account to accept orders, would I have to switch from my personal account to a business one even if I'm selling very small quantities?
Thanks for the response all.

I have an etsy site and I admit, sales are slow... on the other hand, I haven't really pushed it, either -- which is something I'm researching how to do now. Etsy is really easy to use, however, and if I can generate interest, I think my shirts will sell. I suppose everything is down to marketing.... not my strongest subject...
I can't really recommend Etsy. You don't get much in the way of shop customization, and it's awkward to list T-shirts since there are no size dropdowns. The listing fees can add up quickly, too (especially if you follow the "renew, renew, renew" advice for generating sales), and you have to drive traffic to your store yourself because Etsy doesn't advertise. They tell you to do all this SEO stuff but you don't really have much control over SEO on Etsy. In addition, it's a "subdomain" site and you can't make a store with your own domain.

Ultimately, I fared much better with my main website (which is self-coded and designed) on my own domain, which now generates the bulk of my online sales and traffic. I never really was able to get my Etsy shop off the ground. I'll probably leave up some of my shirts there just in case somebody finds me there, but the bulk of my attention will be focused on my main site (which has all of my shirts).

It is easy to use Etsy and set up a shop there though. Another site to look at is Storenvy. Listing there is free and they have a lot more customization options than Etsy (including size dropdowns). You can even change the CSS to whatever you want. However, it's a "subdomain" site just like Etsy is, and of course you'll still have to drive traffic there yourself.

I notice that some shop can make a good sell on Etsy, 10 - 20 pcs/day. I think it depends on the graphic on each tee.

utilize the Alchemy tool.. you bid on items that you can do.. this way you can get your reviews up.

that's what we did and we got over 100 positive posts..

expect low ballers wanting something for nothing but if you can prove that you are worth the price they will pay

don't lose money trying to make a sale.. but its a good way to get sales
i have a etsy accounts and its nice and easy to use
Storenvy looks intriguing, but the other t-shirts for sale are awfully cheap. I'm hand-drawing mine so I can't really sell for less than $20 -- which is not going to compete with $10... but I like the idea of pull-down sizes. And eventually, I'll get good enough at screen-printing to produce faster and lower costs.

But for now I'll try Alchemy and I'm going to take some photos of my new designs and revamp my banner. I've got a shop attached to my main website, but it seems like a waste of money since my clients want henna, not apparel -- so I have not sold any shirts from my site, although I generate enough clients to keep me going.

Thanks!
