What do you use to cut your fabric?

I started my business doing embroidery but now most of my business is from using my heat press for rhinestone, vinyl and screenprint transfers. I'd like to get back into using my Amaya XT and would like to get into doing appliques. I cannot afford the Ioline Applique cutter right now but I do have a GCC Jaguar IV cutter.

Is there a way to use my cutter to cut my OWN fabric? I know I can buy psa twill and Boxercraft fabric but I want to cut my own.

Or I have been told that the 15" Klick N Kut can cut fabric if you use their fabric blade. But I don't know if it can cut fabric well or detailed designs.

Any information or advice on a less expensive way to cut fabric than having to buy the Ioline would be appreciated. I'm not doing huge orders for applique at this time (or at all :) to justify spending a huge amount of money.

Thanks for your help!

We have an ancient Roland Camm-1 that I converted for applique simply by buying a blade with a more aggressive cut angle. I've been able to cut special fabrics only through the use of a Stahls product called Magic Mask that is essentially a big plastic carrier sheet you stick the fabric to. Let me tell you, though, it's nowhere near as nice as using fabric on the roll that's made for the purpose. If you are doing small enough runs and don't mind handwork- sew the placement line over a square of fabric and cut away your excess with a scissor if you are fully covering your edges with satins or are looking for the rough look.
You can also try going to a local trophy shop and see how much they would charge you to cut out the appliques. We have gone this route and know someone with an Epilog that will cut out our appliques for us. I can get an awful lot of appliques cut by them for the cost of a laser.

That's a good idea. I'll have to check into that :)
@myfinishingtouch - Did they have to develop specific settings to do the laser cutting, and if so, do you know them? One of our employees has a trophy shop in the family, and I'd love to cut some difficult materials that won't work on a cad cutter.
