If you're purchasing blanks, typically:

Light: white & natural

Heathers: sport grey & ash

Colors: everything else (including Prepared for Dye)

Typically, for basics (Gildan/Anvil/Hanes) pricing will go (low -> high): L -> H -> C

Sometimes in premium brands and/or organics, white and heather will be the same price as the colors due to higher manufacturing costs.

For pricing, we just check the distributors website.
Is yellow haze priced as a heather, dark, or what the heck is yellow haze?

Ink wise, we find some hi-opacity inks can be used as a one hit on colors you might think you need an underbase on, but they come out just hunky dory.

DTG (Dupont ink) is way pickier about a "what am I" color decision, and we kinda divided the world into 2 categories. But we found 11 colors that print fine at our hi-rez w/o an underbase of the hated white ink.
BTW: All our production number jobs were on the aforementioned colors that work w/o an underbase, so we stopped the white ink. Has not hurt us finacially one iota.
