I've seen the words used here. I think "knockout" means an area within the design where there is no vinyl, where the material the vinyl is applied to can be seen. I think "traps" are pieces of vinyl that are cut to fit in the "knockouts" and are therefore "trapped". Yes? Thanks, gary

In a serious note, a knockout refers to a graphic that you incorporate to a design by subtracting a graphic from the main design, usually is used in a line of text, lets say the word soccer then you lay a soccer ball over the text and trim the text with it, so now the text would still read soccer but with parts of the soccer ball inlaid in the design.

Trap is just an overlap to verily cover another color design when applying two colors or more designs.
