So I'm looking in to the M&R Sidewinder R-Series, and I'm not sure about their "composite" pallets/platens. It seems like older Sidewinders had aluminum/rubber coated platens, while the newer R-Series has composite.

Does anyone know what this composite material really is? Is it also rubber coated? Let me know! Thanks!

Hey, most composite platens are "formica" type materal over high density saw dust board..not sure about m&r...jeff

The diamondback has the same pallets, I think they're aluminum honeycomb, or some combination, I know it is a honeycomb contruction.
I can tell you this, they are light, and they stay flat.
