Do you all think it is a good idea to change your website designs with the seasons? For example, october have a halloween theme and then for December a christmas or winter holiday theme? Any opinions accepted!

It depends on what kind of business you do. If there is a lot of seasonal stuff, then definitely yes. Another option is to take something that is a constant on the site (like a logo) and change just that for the seasons. Like Google does (even the T-shirt Forum logo goes seasonal).

I dont think you need to change your website, but within your website you should ALWAYS have advertisements... For instance, when someone goes to your page,y ou should have some advertisements and banners for things within your own store.. THOSE should be changed with the seasons.. this way your site is consitently the same through out the seasons, you you remind people of the upcomming holiday with your banners and graphics.

For instance, if you went to my site, you would see that there are two banners (one on each side) as advertisements within the site. There is also four large images in the center that could be used for advertisements.. Since we dont do much for seasons other than x-mas, we dont have anything special up there yet.. however when x-mas comes, we will change those to have a holiday theme

This is how the majority of websites do it.. My site has a build in banner manager where i can actually create the banners ahead of time and have them show on certain days automatically.

Doing something small can be a nice accent for the holidays. As has already been mentioned, a lot of sites do something with their company logo. It can be a cute way to acknowledge a holiday.

Unless your site is specifically holiday themed, I don't think you need to have everything reference the holiday. I'm also not fond of twinkly lights or snow that goes down the screen or anything like that. Keep whatever you do simple.

Lindsayanng is right about having holiday advertisements as well. If you have holiday themed merchandise or run special sales for holidays, make sure people know about it.

oh yea.. EVERY SINGLE IMAGE IN YOUR WEBSITE SHOULD HAVE ALT TAGS!!!!

it also depends on how much tiem you will have. You will probably not GAIN customers because you have a holiday theme.. its just something for a customer to say "Cute, look at that" and then forget about it.. if you have more important things to do, then do those first.

EXCEPT when it comes to X-Mas.. The more you can remind people about the upcomming X-mas season, the more likely you are to sell to people looking for the perfect gift
