That's the hard part of running a brand new wholesale business. Hard enough to spend all your time and money to get something off the ground. You want it so bad for stores to carry your stuff. They ask for credit instead of COD. The stores have been in business for a while and they are only ordering $ 300 worth of stuff. So you give them net 30 terms. They still F*** you over. You turn the receivables to collection agencies. They charge you 50% of the receivables. You get some money back. Some will pay you nothing even if you take them to court.
Lesson: Do your credit check on stores and only sell people COD on first order. COD cashier's check preferred. If 20 people give you orders and only 5 will buy COD. Then only ship those 5 stores. The rest is gambling.
I would stay away from consignment unless it's someone you already know and have done business with (or from a store you really want your shirts to be in). The best strategy would probably be to do both!
