There are some t-shirts that I really like the look of and was told by the person that makes them that it is a water soluable ink. It is like sublimation since it is in the fabric not like a transfer or screen on top. You do not feel it but it is on Cotton. Can someone tell me what this process would be for cottons? I know you can sublimate but that not generally cotton.

And if you want to buy equipment, just ask for samples shirts, do some test wash as well

Was it a printed transfer that was heat press, or was it printed directly onto the cotton?

She really would not tell me. I was curious if it might be DTG but this is not what I am familiar with so I don't know. I love the idea of a "sublimated" type design on a cotton shirt so I was trying to find more info to see if that is an avenue I wanted to venture down. I current do HTV and embroidery.

It's very likely it was DTG. If you print on a white or very light colored garment, there is practically no "feel" to the ink.

It could also be discharge. Discharge inks, in essence, remove the original color of the fabric, and transpose whatever color the ink is. This shirt is silk screened with discharge inks: https://www.etsy.com/listing/36681422/fujoshi-tee?ref=related-1

They have a super soft hand, and you almost don't feel the ink on them.

Like said it could be 3 things

Chromoblast
Discharge waterbase ink (this is silkscreen)
Dtg

All these have a no hand feel on cotton

This is a white t-shirt, so no discharge just regular water based
